Clement W. Labine

(1926-2007) ~ Inducted 1989

Labine, Clem

Clem Labine was a three-time National League All-Star who was inducted into the Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Fame in 1986.  He was regarded as baseball's best releif pitcher in the 1950's. Labine played in six World Series and on three World Championship Teams, before retiring in 1963. Raised in Woonsocket, RI, he was named RI Athlete of the Year in 1955. He returned to Woonsocket following his retirement from baseball. Clem became manager for the sporting goods division of the Jacob Finklestein's & Sons manufacturing company. After his retirement from business, he moved to Florida to serve as an instructor at the Dodgers' adult fantasy camp at their Dodgertown headquarters. Clem Labine died there in 2007.
