Kathryn "Katie" King

(1975-) ~ Inducted 2004

Katie King-Crowley was a member of the gold medal winning women’s ice hockey team at the 1998 Nagano, Japan Games, and silver medalist as a member of the United States women’s hockey team in 2002 at Salt Lake City.  Although a New Hampshire resident, Katie competed for Brown University (Class of 1997) and is the daughter of Rhode Islanders. Her father, Joseph, was raised in Warwick and her mother, Susan, in East Providence.

At Brown, Katie was a two-sport superstar and team captain. As a forward in hockey, she was named Ivy League Player of the Year for three consecutive years (1995, 1996, and 1997) and ECAC Player of the Year (1997); and as a pitcher, she was designated Ivy League Softball Player of the Year in 1996 and Ivy League Pitcher of the Year in 1997. She holds the all-time Brown scoring record in hockey with 206 points on 123 goals and 83 assists in 100 career games. In 1998 at Nagano, Katie tied with three other players for the Team USA high scorer with eight points in six games.

In 2006, King became an assistant women's ice hockey coach for the Boston College Eagles women's ice hockey program, and was named the head coach in 2007 following the resignation of former head coach Tom Mutch.
