Mission Statement


The HOF exists to honor and recognize, and to extol and publicize the achievements of thoseRhode Island men and women who have, in the words of the HOF induction citation, "made significant contributions to their community, state, and/or nation." It is also our mission to tell the story of Rhode Island History via interactive technology using the biographies of our inductees, noting their collective impact upon every phase of Rhode Island's development.

A religious Sister of Mercy who taught in several Rhode Island schools, served as a missionary in Central America, and helped to establish such important local social agencies as McAuley House, Dorcas Place, and Sophia Academy.

Dr.Stephen P. Salloway
Inducted 2019

Director of Neurology and the Memory and Aging Program at Butler Hospital and Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Brown Medical School. He is one of the nation’s leaders in Alzheimer’s prevention research, and has written extensively on this topic.
